About the Renegades at War

History

Origins - Day of Defeat

Welcome to the home of the Renegades at War. The Renegades at War were officially formed as a clan many years ago by a group of friends who had previously played first-person shooter games together in other clans. The clan played a First Person Shooter called Day of Defeat - a World War II Half-Life mod.

The founding members Spektre, Raven and Squeak soon recruited more members and RAW went about purchasing a server and joining a competitive ladder called EnemyDown. RAW made their debut in September 2004, marking their entry into competitive play with a win. Playing more games, RAW rose up the ladder and competed in several invite cup and league competitions. They notably gained success in the [SFH] Invitational League 5, beating off stiff competition and winning their division.

During the time RAW played Day of Defeat, the modification went through multiple release version, gaining commercial success when Valve released it as a standalone game, and culminating in version 1.3. However, with the release of Half-Life: Source at the end of 2004, work began on an updated version of Day of Defeat, named Day of Defeat: Source, and with its release in September 2005, RAW moved to become a DoD:S clan.

Despite retaining the same setting, Day of Defeat: Source saw a marked change in both graphics and gameplay to the initial mod. Embracing the new game, RAW once again joined an EnemyDown ladder and played ranked matches with much success. RAW also competed in various tournaments such as EDDoDS Seasonal cups.

Throughout the time spent playing both DoD and DoD:S, the core team of RAW remained mostly unchanged. Of course the members of RAW played games outside of the shooter, but no multiplayer game held their attention in the same way - until the release of the World of Warcraft.

A New Home - World of Warcraft

Many members of the RAW clan started playing World of Warcraft, both instead of and at the same time as Day of Defeat. Initially playing Alliance on the Stormscale server, the players joined various larger guilds together in order to take part in the 40 man raids that were prevalent back in the early days of World of Warcraft. Together with other players from the Stormscale server they downed many raid bosses including Ragnaros in the Molten Core, Onyxia in her own lair, and Hakkar in Zul'Gurub.

Despite their enjoyment of the new game, the members of RAW were not great enough in number to form a guild that could complete high level PvE content. Due to this the same core of players joined larger guilds, but remained together over the years. Playing Alliance on the Stormscale and Defias Brotherhood servers, and then switching to Horde with the release of the Burning Crusade and moving to the Blade's Edge server until the release of Cataclysm.

Present Day

With the release of Cataclysm, members of RAW were filled with the urge to raid as a team once more. Four members of the original clan rerolled during September 2010 as Alliance on the Bloodhoof server. The Renegades at War guild was founded by RAW founders Alfus (Spektre) and Alrayne (Raven) as well as RAW members Giltred and Vorgen (Predator)

With the aim of running guild heroics and eventually raids, Renegades at War opened recruitment, and has to this day found many new members rightfully joining the ranks of Renegades at War. With a solid team of players, RAW now embark to conquer new foes across the face of Azeroth.
